Medifast | Week Two
Well, I have to say, I am completely shocked with my first week on Medifast. After only one week on the program, I have lost a total of 4 pounds! But it wasn’t easy. I definitely had my hungry days and we went out to eat twice. TWICE!!
One of my biggest hurdles with the Medifast program is drinking enough water. When my nutritionalist asked me how much water I typically drink in a day, my answer was none. I hate water. So I knew this was going to be tough for me. As you know, I love my coffee and Diet Coke. Not that I can’t drink them while on the program but definitely not in the amounts that I typically drink them. To make sure I get all my water in, I set mini goals throughout the day. For example, I have a 32 oz water bottle. I make sure I drink one by lunch, one by dinner, and at least half {if not the whole thing} by bed time. Of course, drinking all this water comes with a price. I have been reacquainted with the bathroom. We were BFFs back when I was pregnant.
Another thing that I thought would be a struggle but have found that it really isn’t are my Lean and Green meals. One the Medifast program, you eat 5 Medifast meals and 1 Lean and Green. I have been eating my L&G at dinner time. That’s where the challenge comes in. I refused to have to make 2 meals at dinner so whatever I made for myself had to please the boys. Luckily, I found some great recipes that we tried this week. Our favorites so far are Balsamic Chicken with Green Bean and Tomato Saute and Chicken Cordon Bleu.
The two things I thought would give me a problem, so far, haven’t. But my real challenge this week was eating out. Not once, but twice. Friday night, we were invited to go out to dinner with the hubster’s work. I couldn’t not go. I looked up the restaurant’s menu online {thank God for the internet} and picked what I was going to have ahead of time. Knowing what I was going to eat before I got there helped tremendously. I chose to go boring. House salad with grilled chicken, dressing on the side. Of course, people asked if that was all I was going to eat. Once I explained the plan and my commitment to this journey, they were impressed with my resolve and applauded me for sticking to my guns. Saturday night, we went out for a family dinner. This time I chose a steak with a side salad. Chicken can get a little old and fast! All in all, I am pretty happy with my choices and proud of myself for not veering off plan.
So what did this all get me? It got me a total weight loss of 4 pounds this week! Did I mention my jeans are already starting to fit better and, dare I say, get a little loose? I stalled after a few days due to an unexpected visitor {TOTM – time of the month} but didn’t gain! I’m sure I’ll notice a drop after my house guest packs up and leaves.

Congrats! Four pounds is great for the first week. I admire your will power. Going out would have blown my diet big time. Good luck!
Great job steph!! I still think 4lbs is amazing and a job well done. and you did better than I at eating out. remember my first week and how i cried at the food court in the mall? eek. haha
so proud of you for sticking to this. i know how hard making this change can be. i promise, it will get easier every day. before you know it, those supposed challenges will be nothing more than an annoying gnat waiting to be splatted!
Keep up the great work!

Great job girl. Sounds like you are rocking it! I commend you for doing so well at the restaurants. We hit Whole Foods last night and I made a salad from the bar and grabbed a cold rosemary grilled chicken breast to go with it. Tasty for sure and my family was able to grab something other than the salads and grilled meats we have been eating all week (they were thrilled). But, my husband is losing too as a result of me being on the Medifast journey, so it’s a double win!
I need to try some of the recipes and will be making the one you mentioned!
You should have your hubs crack out the grill (yes, even in the winter) and make grilled steak and shrimp with a salad for your L&G one night. DEEEEELICIOUS!!
You did awesome this week. Keep up the great work! Even now, water can be a struggle for me – but you’re doing great.
4 pounds is awesome!! I hate water, hate it, I drink crystal light a lot. It’s almost water and it is sugar free. I’m slowly trying to transition to regular water but it is slow going.

I am on my first 5 days on medifast. I’m only 16, 5’2″ and 185lbs. I’m looking to be around 110-120 (depending on how I look and feel) I’ve already lost 3 pounds and I am soo excited to follow this. It is so easy that sometimes it’s hard to believe that this is actually making me lose weight! I am a little hungry but I’ve just started so it’ll pass. I am also having trouble with the water but in the end I know it’ll be worth it. I’ll be reading your posts and I hope we are all successful! This is the start of a new life!
