Bag It Forward

Back to school time has to be one of my times of the year. No, it’s not because the kids go back to school {mine are 4 and under so I don’t get to have that excitement yet}. I love it for the back to school supply shopping! Even when I was younger, I would get excited over the thought of new pens, notebooks, and backpack. Even though it meant that summer was coming to an end and school was starting back up, I was still excited. To this day, I get a little giddy when I see the displays pop up in July and I stock up on my own supplies {who doesn’t love new pens?!}.

This year, E and I went shopping at WalMart to participate in the Bag It Forward movement. With WalMart’s low prices {I was shocked at how low!}, it makes it easy for anyone to fill a bag to donate to a child.

The thing I was most impressed with at WalMart {other than the insanely low prices and quality school supplies} was the convenient display of school supply lists.

It was here I found the Elmer’s 1 Day App! It has a QR code to scan to take you directly to the app. The Elmer’s 1st Day™ app is a FREE {woohoo!}  app that helps you capture those priceless “1st day” moments year after year. It also provides teachers a unique platform to share photos of their classrooms, school projects and more with family and friends.

Elmer’s is committed to the education of children and innovation for educators who inspire them to learn. With that in mind, the company is a proud sponsor of The Kids In Need Foundation and currently supports the  Elmer’s Teacher Tool Kit Program to provide much-needed funding and supplied to educators. Based on the success of this partnership, Elmer’s chose to donate additional resources to The Kids in Need Foundation through this1st Day™ initiative.

It wasn’t until we got home that I realized all of the stuff we bought!

We packed it all up in this cute tote bag and it was ready to be donated to E’s school!

E was so proud to be able to bring this to school.

  1. Awww! What a little cutie! And good for you for teaching him to give at a young age. Love it!

  2. This is a great idea! I am always looking for ways to show my son that we need to give to others that aren’t as fortunate. This idea is great, we did Toys for Tots and well that didn’t go over so well with a 3 year old crying for all the toys. I think 3 was a bit young for that!

  3. I haven’t heard of that, but that’s a great idea! They do something similar just in our school district, but I am going to look into that. Thanks!

  4. Aw, that’s a nice idea. I do always like it when the stores have bins for donations – makes it so easy to grab extras of whatever is on sale. My good intentions sometimes break down when it gets to the “put it all in a cute little tote bag” part. Or when my kids get their mitts on all the loot. I’m not a huge Back to School shopping fan myself – it can get expensive! But I do feel better about it if I know I can help another family provide fresh new supplies for their kids.

  5. so cute!! what a great lesson for kids to learn early on! in fact, all you #bagitforward ladies have given me the inspiration to do this for my little boys preschool teachers even though he graduated. :) Thanks! and awesome work!

  6. i love BTS shopping! i always like to buy extra cuz you never know when you might get the opportunity to help someone!

  7. I love to buy extra school supplies to held a child in need. I find that WalMart has the best prices too. And thank you for the reminder that I need to go do my back-to-school shopping!
