One of the things I try to teach my kids every day is that they are to be kind and nice…to every body. Ethan recently pointed out a classmate as we were walking to school. He mentioned that this particular classmate was having a difficult time with transitioning to Kindergarten.
He didn’t know what to make of it. Ethan is my play by the rules child so when others act out or don’t follow the rules, it can be upsetting or unnerving to him.
I suggested that maybe it would help the other child if Ethan tried to be his friend. That, maybe, if the little boy had a friend at school, it wouldn’t be so hard for him to leave his mommy everyday. I also reminded him that we should be nice and kind to every one.
Every day as parents, we are presented with these opportunities to teach our children to be kind. Sometimes? We need a little help! If you need a little help with coming up with ways to help your child, I put together a round up of 12 “Do Something Nice” Activities over on the GummyLump Blog.
