The Only Spring Cleaning Tips You Need

This is a sponsored conversation written by me on behalf of ACME Markets. The opinions and text are all mine.

We’ve reached that time of year, we are done with winter and looking forward to spring. And, I will admit, that I’ve been bitten by the Spring Cleaning bug early. I figure if I do it now, I’ll more time to enjoy the nicer weather come Spring. Pretty smart right?

But I will be the first to admit that I am not the best when it comes to home organization and cleaning. There are a few things that I have picked up on the way! Before we dive into the tips, you have to make sure you’re working with the right supplies.

The new line of Open Nature™ household cleaning and care products offer the same great quality with a new, updated look, and safe ingredients for your home and family. Open Nature household products provide effective cleaning power for your toughest messes and all items feature transparent claims on packaging.

All Open Nature household cleaning and care products are dye free and never tested on animals. The Open Nature cleaning line includes products that are biodegradable, fragrance free and perfume free, and are certified Safer Choice by the U.S. EPA.  All Open Nature paper products are made with 100% recycled paper and are certified by the Sustainable Forestry Initiative.

The Only Spring Cleaning Tips You Need!

Do not make cleaning an all-day, every weekend type of event. This is a biggie for me. Cleaning, especially Spring Cleaning, can be very overwhelming to me. Instead, I set aside a specific time each day for household tasks to be done.

Ask for help. One of the reasons why I get overwhelmed with Spring Cleaning is that I try to do it all by myself! That’s enough to overwhelm anyone. Instead, you have to ask for help. Or, rather, tell your family what you need them to do. I give the kids age appropriate tasks like cleaning the sliding glass door and collecting trash. Just by having them do those little tasks really takes the stress off of me! Make a chart if you have to. Having a chart of what needs to be done and who is responsible to do it will let the family know what is expected of them and when.

Open Nature™ household products are premium and safe for your home and family so get those kids helping you clean! My go-to around the house is the All Purpose Cleaner. It disinfects (kills cold and flu viruses)and is dye free with biodegradable surfactants.

Wear comfortable clothes you will not mind getting dirty or stained. Obviously, you do not want to clean in your best clothing. It may help to have a specific pair of jeans, sweatpants and tops to go with it as your cleaning uniform.

Stay focused on the task at hand. When you get started, do not stop to check your email or watch television. Instead, ignore distractions until you are finished with what you want to accomplish.

Use a specific order when cleaning. Start at the top and move to the bottom. Start from one side and move to the other. Clean everything in the path that you have chosen and then out the door of the room.

Close the blinds when you clean them. Start from the top using an old dryer sheet and wipe in down. Not only will this clean the blinds, it will add an anti-static barrier that will keep the dust from settling back onto them.

Leave paper towels on the holder when it comes time to clean your windows and mirrors. You can use crumpled up newspaper but what do you do when you do not have newspaper available? If you drink coffee, you can use coffee filters. They will not streak and will not leave lint on either surface.

Don’t forget the overlooked areas!  When was the last time you cleaned your washing machine or your garbage disposal or even your dishwasher? Yeah. I’m not gonna answer that one either. Wash away odors and restore your machine’s performance with garbage disposal and dishwasher cleaners. You’ll be surprised by the results!
