10 Must Read Books for Summer 2012

Every year, I vow to read more. And every year, I fail miserably. Thanks to the Hunger Games and my iPad, my love of reading has been renewed and I am looking to read more. I know I will be spending a lot more time outside with the kids this summer and we have some trips planned. These are the perfect oppportunities to grab my book {or my iPad} and read!

I put together a list of the ten books I want to read this summer. You will not see 50 Shades of Gray on this list because I will not be reading that series. Nope, not me!

10 Must Read Books for Summer 2012

1. Water for Elephants by Sara Gruen – Ok, so I’m cheating here a little bit. This is what I am currently reading. But, it is feeling like summer out there so it counts!

2. The Help by Kathryn Stockett  – I know, I know. I am so behind on this one! But it’s on my list and I will read it this summer.

3. Then Came You by Jennifer Weiner – I love Jennifer Weiner and have read almost all of her books. Then Came You is her latest and I can’t wait to get started on it.

4. Confessions of a Scary Mommy by Jill Smokler – I have been meaning to read Jill’s book since it came out. After hearing her speak at Bloggy Boot Camp, it really lit a fire under my butt to add this one to my list.

5. The Beach House by Jane Green – Another author I am slightly addicted to reading. One summer, I think I read all of Jane’s book. I couldn’t get enough of them! The Beach House is the perfect addition to a summer reading list.

6. Maine by J. Courtney Sullivan – This book was recommended to me by Stephanie at Confessions of a Stay at Home Mom. This sounds like a perfect beach read for me!

7.  Planting Dandelions by Kyran PittmanPlanting Dandelions is another true mom confessional book. Kyran Pittman shares her path from a bohemian 70’s childhood  to her current “semi-domesticated” life as a wife and a mother of three in the American South.

8. Skinnydipping by BethannyFrankel – This is the epitome of a beach read! I think this will be one I will fly through in one day.

9. Bossy Pants by Tina Fey – Another book I have been meaning to read for forever. I love Tina Fey so I know I will love her book.

10. Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me? (And Other Concerns) by Mindy Kaling – The title alone makes me want to read it. The fact that it’s written by Mindy Kaling makes me even more excited!

  7. Great list! I LOVED Bossypants. Perfect light summer read (or anytime read, for that matter). Now to add a few of your picks to my own list. At this rate, I’ll need summer to be extended by 3 months. 😉
