Growing up, every Sunday was spent at my grandmother’s house for dinner. There were no ifs, ands, or buts about it. You were there. Being Italian, our dinners were generally pasta. From spaghetti to penne to zitti, there was a pot of Sunday sauce, pasta, and meatballs on the table.
While we don’t have this tradition anymore, and I miss that, Sunday dinners are important in our little home. They help us get ready for the week ahead. Get back into our routine so that we can start the week off on the right foot. We eat dinner as a family, baths, and a show. The same thing every week. The kids crave that routine.
We have fallen into the routine of having pasta Sunday. And, while my kids love it and scarf it down, it starts to become the same ole same ole, especially for someone who grew up eating pasta every single Sunday.
Now, I am not ready to give up my pasta, but you need to switch it up a bit every now and then. So I pulled together some of my favorite Sunday Supper Recipes for when we, ok I, need that break from spaghetti and meatballs.
