5 Quick Steps to a Beautiful Bathroom Makeover
A few years ago, we decided that we were going to redo a room at a time when we could. Baby steps. The hubster started with the half bathroom that gets the most traffic and is seen by almost everyone that comes over. I still love the bathroom but I am always changing things up in there.
5 Quick Steps to a Beautiful Bathroom Makeover
1. Shop other rooms in your house. I do this all.the.time. I am always switching out knick-knacks from the living to the bathroom, to the kitchen, and back. It keeps things looking fresh without breaking your piggy bank.
2. Change up your hand towels. The first thing you see when you walk into our powder room are the hand towels. I loved the original white hand towels I purchased when we first re-did the room, but then a 4 year old got his {dirty} hands on them. It was definitely time for a change. Bonus: purchase from a discount home store like Home Goods or TJ Maxx and you can buy a bunch of different ones for a new look all the time!
3. Change out your scent. I have about 146 scented candles {I’m not lying} in a closet. We have a ton and we never use them. I love to keep a scented candle in the bathroom {well, you know why} and switch them out often for fresh new scents. I’ve also recently added a reed diffuser and love how pretty it looks!
4. Change your hand soaps. I used to be all about filling the pretty pump in the bathroom but then that took up too much time. Instead, I am using up the 123 hand soaps I have in the same closet with the 146 scented candles. Who doesn’t love to have pretty smelling hands?
5. Upgrade your lighting. You can do this simply by changing out the light bulbs for a softer light or by purchasing a new light fixture. I am so glad we did this when we re-did the bathroom.
I do most, if not all, of these things at least every 2-3 months!
How often do you makeover your bathroom?

i love new fresh hand towels. i used to be the same way with candles but hate the black residue they leave behind
Love this!! We needed a new look, so we got a new shower curtain – which totally changes the theme without breaking the bank! I have a soft blueish-green paint in our bathroom upstairs – and had the same floral shower curtain from our wedding registry. My sister was giving up a chocolate brown one – so I used that! I got a CHEAP brown hand towel -and the rest if history!!
Looks great! I do this approximately never – but now I might 🙂
Thanks for the inspiration. Like you, when I start changing things, I want to redo the entire house! LOL Last week we painted the living room and got a new sofa so next up – the master bathroom. And since I have already gone over my budget, I am going to use some of your great tips to freshen up the bathroom with items I already have on hand (with maybe one fun stop at Home Goods to get some new towels. Thanks!
I love the idea of “shopping” other rooms in the house. I can afford that! 🙂
