My Life List
100 years ago, the American Cancer Society began the fight of a lifetime – the fight to end cancer. They are determined to finish this fight. The American Cancer Society wants to give people everywhere more of life’s special moments – more proud accomplishments, dreams come true, and birthdays celebrated. They have teamed up with celebrities {and me!} to create “life lists” that illustrate the progress they have made and the work they still have to do.
Here is my life list.
Sixty years ago, 1 out of 3 people diagnosed with cancer survived. Today, thanks in part to the work of the American Cancer Society, 2 out of 3 will survive. Let’s make it 3 out of 3. Join us to help finish the fight.
As if you needed any more reasons to help the American Cancer Society finish the fight on cancer, here are 5 more!
1. The American Cancer Society is leading the fight to end cancer. With your support, they have helped usher in an era where more people survive cancer than ever before. By translating their research findings into action, they’ve seen a 20% decline in US cancer death rates since the early 1990s.
2. They are doing the most to help people fight cancer. They help people everywhere fight cancer, connecting millions of patients a year to answers, free rides to treatment, a place to stay when traveling for treatment, and more.
3. They are leading the way to find cancer’s causes and cures. Whether it’s medications to help people live longer and better or the most promising screening tests, the American Cancer Society has been part of nearly every major cancer breakthrough in recent history. You help them support the best ideas of the brightest cancer researchers.
4. They are making noise to save lives. For 100 years, the American Cancer Society has been working to transform cancer from deadly to treatable to preventable. When you get loud, they can fund research, help patients, and fight for access to health care for all.
5. They use your donations wisely. The American Cancer society is committed to making the greatest possible impact against cancer. Seventy-two cents of every dollar goes directly to research, prevention, detection, treatment, and patient support. The rest fuels supporting services for our lifesaving work.
Kudos to you for supporting this great cause! My life list is to retire on an island. Hope to get there some day!
Too many young moms I know have battled Cancer. It’s so sad. Wouldn’t it be amazing if this really was the last century for cancer!
It’s a great reminder to celebrate our life, isn’t it? Love the life list you created!
What an inspiring post! It’s so important to focus on what we are grateful for and what we’ve accomplished to remind ourselves that the rest of our dreams are possible too!
What a great idea. Sometimes it’s easy to forget our accomplishments and important moments during the rush of it all. I still get choked up when I think that my MIL won’t be there at my kids weddings or for great grandkids. I really want to see cancer get it’s @$$ kicked!
I love your list! Mine would be similar – but live to see grandchildren and great grandchildren would be nice too 🙂
Great idea! I think what is scary is that the cancer rate has gone up but it’s heartening to hear that survival rates are getting better. Having had a stroke in my early 30s, I live every day like it’s my last! My life list would include living to see my girls be successful on their own God willing, see Europe, and publish that novel!
I liked you life list because it is full of hope, optimism and accomplishment. I am looking forwards to creating my own.
Great list!!! Let’s kick cancer to the curb!!!!
Great list and post Steph!
