Apple Pie Slab
Apple Slab Pie! The perfect dessert for a crowd, plus more flaky crust in every bite
You know what time it is? It’s Apple time! While everyone else is freaking out about pumpkin spice and pumpkin spice that, I am all about apple. Everything and anything apple!
I have experimented with apples and deviated from my standard apple pie and apple crisp and made these awesome Salted Caramel Hand Pies.
And then I made this drool worthy Caramel Cream Cheese Apple Dip. Seriously, this one is a must-make for your Fall get togethers.
And then, I finally outdid myself with this Apple Pie Slab. Yup, an apple pie slab.
And, if I am being honest, I cheated a little with this recipe. You see, we haven’t gone apple picking yet, so I didn’t have a million apples laying around in the kitchen begging to be baked into something yummy. Instead, I took a little short cut with DOLE Fruit n’ Spice Apple Cinnamon Slices.
DOLE Fruit N’ Spice are all natural, real frozen fruit combined with chef-inspired spice blends which made my life a little easier to throw this Apple Pie Slab together so quickly!
Apple Pie Slab
To make this amazing Apple Pie Slab, you will need:
- 1 bag of DOLE Fruit n’ Spice Apple Cinnamon Slices
- 4 Tbsp unsalted butter
- ÂĽ cup brown sugar, lightly packed
- 1 sheet (8 or 9 oz) frozen puff pastry, thawed
- all purpose flour for dusting
- 1 egg, lightly beaten for egg wash
- Raw sugar for sprinkling
In a large skillet, melt 4 Tbsp butter over medium heat. Add DOLE Fruit n’ Spice Apple Cinnamon Slices and cook, stirring occasionally until lightly browned (6-8 min). Reduce heat to low and stir in ÂĽ cup brown sugar. Continue to simmer, stirring occasionally until apples are soft and caramelized.
Lightly dust a sheet of parchment paper with flour. Place your thawed puff pastry dough over it and roll it out slightly to flatten the top. Cut puff pastry dough in half down the center to make two pieces.
Arrange apples in a tight row lengthwise down the middle of one puff pastry sheet leaving a one inch border on all sides. Pour remaining syrup from the apples over the top of the apples. Brush your beaten egg around the edges of your pastry. Top with the second pastry sheet and press down on the edges to seal.
Cut six 1-inch wide slits down the center of your pastry to create vents. Brush the pastry with egg wash and sprinkle the top generously with coarse sugar. Bake at 400ËšF for 15-17 min or until top is golden brown.

I think the Dole Honey Lime Pineapple Chuncks would work nicely in a cold slushie beverage made in the blender.
