With the start of the New Year, everyone is busy making resolutions. Lost weight. Start running. Eat better. Get more organized. Purge the house. The list goes on and on. If I am being honest, resolutions don’t really work for me. If we are all being honest with ourselves, resolutions don’t really work for anyone. Instead, I like to small steps. Small attainable goals that will eventually lead me to my final goal.
One of the things I am focusing on this year is to not necessarily shed the weight (although that will be a nice side effect). I am focusing on making better choices. Over the Christmas break, the whole family slipped into making some poor eating choices. We had the perfect excuse, it’s the holidays! Well the holidays have come and gone and it’s time to get back on track. One of the easiest ways for me to start is by switching out my breakfasts and the easiest way is with smoothies.
For me, personally, I could just whip up a Strawberry Banana Smoothie (maybe throw in some spinach) and call it a day. But if I want to get the kids on board, I have to make it fun! Behold the Banana Split Smoothies!
My kids are ice cream junkies and would eat it every night if we let them. So I took something they love and turned it into a smoothie. Let me break it down for you. We have Silk Almond Milk as our Vanilla Ice Cream, frozen strawberries and crushed pineapples as our toppings, and, of course, bananas! But there’s a little something else in there too.
Jif™ Peanut Powder! Adding protein into our smoothies is really important! Jif™ Peanut Powder has the same amount of nourishing protein as traditional peanut butter, but with 85% less fat. It’s the perfect way to add delicious peanut taste to smoothies, baking, breakfast and more – with less calories and sugar. Jif™ Peanut Powder is made from just one ingredient – fresh roasted peanuts – and has no added sugar or salt!
Banana Split Smoothies
You will need Jif™ Peanut Powder (either regular or Chocolate Peanut Butter), frozen strawberries, banana, crushed pineapple, and Silk Almond Milk (Vanilla).
Grab your blender and layer in your ingredients: 1 cup of frozen strawberries, 2 tablespoons of crushed pineapple, one sliced banana, and 3 tablespoons of Jif™ Peanut Powder.
Add 1 cup of Silk Almond Milk and blend! If your smoothie is too thick, add more almond milk until you reach your desired consistency.
Top with a little bit of whipped cream to finish your Banana Split Smoothie! Enjoy!
Jif™ Peanut Powder can be more nutritious, but every bit as easy and delicious as PB&J. Try it for yourself! Pick some up the next time you are shopping at WalMart. You can find it in the Peanut Butter aisle!
