I don’t know what it is about school but my oldest comes home starving. It’s the first thing out of his mouth. “Can I have a snack, Mom?” He usually grabs a yogurt or a muffin. But that gets a little boring. I have been trying some new after school snacks for him. I try to keep them quick and easy with things we already have on hand, like these Crunchy Peanut Butter and Apple Slices.
For awhile, Ethan was on an apple a day kick. I would buy bunch, slice them up, and throw them in his lunchbox. Recently, I noticed they were coming back home. By the end of the day, they were browned and ended up in the trash. A total waste. So I stopped packing them as lunch and started offering them as an after school snack.
This week, I’m upping the ante on the after school snack by adding something a little extra. M&M’s® Crispy! Yup, they’re back!
Crunchy Peanut Butter & Apple Slices
This simple after school snack will surely be a hit with your kids! You’ll need:
- M&M’s® Crispy (for the crunch!)
- Apples
- Creamy Peanut Butter
Doesn’t get easier than that right?
If you have an apple corer, go ahead and remove the cores. If you don’t have one, don’t worry, neither do I! Simply slice your apples and carefully cut out the cores.
Next, spread on some peanut butter! For me, the more the better!
Finally, top your apple slices with M&M’s® Crispy and serve with a glass of milk!

How have I never thought about adding peanut butter or M&Ms to my apples, clearlyI need to change that asap!
What a perfect snack for after school. I love the idea of enticing my boy with M&M’s to get him to eat something nutritious. And the crispy M&M’s only have 180 calories per serving so I’m not overloading him with too many calories either! #client
