The Northeast has been pretty lucky this winter when it comes to snow {I’m sure I just jinxed us}. The past few years we have been hit with some major storms that left thousands of people without power and water for days {and weeks}. This past summer, we were even lucky enough to be hit by a hurricane. Again, thousands of people were without power and water.

When we were preparing for the hurricane, it became very clear to me that we weren’t prepared at all.

We didn’t have an emergency plan. We didn’t have emergency supplies. Thankfully, we were one of the few lucky ones to not have any damage and to not lose our power.

But that didn’t stop me from making sure my family is prepared for the future. After all, 70% of power outages in the U.S. are weather related. Numerous power failures are caused by natural weather phenomena such as lightening, rain, snow, ice, wind, and even dust. These are all weather phenomena that happen right in our back yard.

When I heard about Energizer’s Champion for Kids campaign, I knew this was something I wanted to be a part of. If my family was unprepared, there are many more out there that aren’t either. Champions for Kids works to mobilize MILLIONS of people by providing training and resources to improve the lives of children in communities.

This weekend, the boys and I will be heading out to create a Care Kit for Kids. We will be including items like band-aids, hand wipes, tissues, flashlights, a ton of extra batteries and bottle water. We are then going to donate our Care Kit to the local shelter. ross America and beyond. Our goal is to mobilize 20 Million people by 2020.

I hope you will join me and create your own Care Kit for Kids so that more families will be prepared when faced in an emergency.
Make sure you report back to Energizer’s Champion for Kids!

Don’t forget to come back next week to check out our Care Kit and pictures from our donation!

This is fabulous! I love these projects, love Champions for Kids, and Energizer is an amazing company! I can’t wait to see what you do with it. I have already been involved in monthly giving missions because of this wonderful organization. And I’m not ready to stop now!
