When the warmer weather rolls around, it’s officially deck season! Almost every Friday night, we hang out with our neighbor friends and relax after a busy week. The parents adult. The kids run around and play! It’s a total win/win for everyone.

Our deck nights usually kick off with dinner. Whoever’s the host deck provides food for everyone. The guests bring snacks. While this is fun for everyone, it can take it’s toll on the wallet week after week. So, we get a little savvy and look for deals!

What I love the most about our Friday night routine is that we kinda let the rules fly out the window. Eat when you want. Stay up late (as long as you promise to sleep in!). It’s a little party every week!

Since we let the kids stay up late, we had to come up with ways to keep the entertained once the sun went down! I got a little creative and came up with two fun glow-in-the-dark backyard games!

Glow-in-the-Dark Backyard Games

glow-in-the-dark backyard games

We took two classic games, ring toss and bowling, and turned them into night-time backyard fun! For these games, you will need:

  • empty soda bottles
  • glow sticks: bracelet size and necklace size
  • softball wiffle balls
  • washi tape

Start by washing out your empty soda bottles and remove the labels. You can use any size but we found that the smaller sizes worked best.

You can skip this step if you want, but I added some washi tape to decorate your bottles.

The bottles will be your targets for ring toss and the pins for bowling.

Glow-in-the-Dark Bowling

Next, you need to create your glow-in-the-dark bowling ball! Take a bracelet size glow stick and break it to activate.
