Happy Birthday to Me…I’m So #SnoverIt

I must have disrupted the snow gods with my birth. My birth so rattled their little snow world that they deemed I must pay for it. And almost every year since my birth 32 years ago, there has been snow either on or around my birthday. Some of those years brought crippling snow storms breaking records each time.

Let’s take a look at this shall we.

It all started with the Blizzard of ’83. Or as I like to call it, the blizzard that cancelled my first birthday party. The blizzard that brought 21.3″ of snow over the course of two days.

And I have been bitter ever since.

There were small storms here and there but there were some biggies as well. Let’s take a look at some of the ones I vividly remember!

In 2003, we had the Presidents’ Day Storm II that occurred over the Valentine’s Day/President Day weekend {you know a few days after my birthday}. Snow fell at an impressive rate of up to 4 inches an hour for a total of 19 inches accumulated.

Then there was the storm in 2006. I clearly remember this one because I ordered our wedding invitations {on my birthday} because we were stuck in the house. Snowfall totals were measured at 12 inches in the city but out our way in the ‘burbs, we got up to 21 inches.

Or the back to back storms in 2010: Snowmageddon and SnoMG in 2010. The first snow came on the 6th with another storm behind it the 9th-10th. Everything was shut down the rest of the week which included my birthday.

And then there’s the current forecast for tonight into tomorrow.  It is supposed to start late this evening and last until Friday. Yes, Friday people!

FYI. I live in that red section.

And with that, I beg the snow gods for my forgiveness. Whatever it was that I did to upset them every year, I will try not to do it again. Please? It is after all my birthday and I’m so #SnoverIt!
