How to Add a Downloadable Printable to Your Blog Post

If you have been around for awhile, you know that I offer printables from time to time. I love making them. It means I get to play with all my fun fonts. Being in about 1,000 Blogger Facebook groups, the question of “How do I make and add a printable to my blog post?” comes up from time to time.

Some think it’s hard but once they hear how it easy it is, they are off creating great printables for their readers.

So if you ever wondered, “How do I make and add a printable to my blog post?”, here’s how!

How to Add a Downloadable Printable to Your Blog Post

Create your printable.

There are a number of ways you can do this. You can create your printable in Word, Powerpoint, Google Doc, Photoshop, PicMonkey or Canva. Personally, I prefer the no fuss no muss approach and use Canva. They even have pre-designed templates to help you get the job done!

Save as a PDF…and a JPEG!

If you are using Canva, you are given the option to save your document as both an image and PDF. Go ahead and download both.

If you are using Google Doc, you will see the option to save as a PDF under File >> Download as.

To save as JPEG using Google Doc, your best bet would be to do Print Preview and take a screen shot.

But why do I want it as an image too? Well…

Upload your image and PDF to your blog post.

You want your readers to see the printable right? If you make it easy for them to see the printable, the more likely they will click on the link and print it. So go ahead and upload both files to your blog post.

After your PDF uploads, copy the URL file of the PDF.

Link your PDF to the Printable Image.

Now that you have the link to your PDF, open your image file. Replace the “Link to” URL to the PDF’s URL. Why? So when people click on your image it will take them to the printable PDF version of your printable!

And that’s it! Now you too can share printables with your readers!

Easy Media Download

To make it even easier for your readers to download your printables, add a “Download” Button to your post. Install the Easy Media Download Plugin to enable this feature. This plugin uses shortcodes to install a button to your post for readers to download.

The button looks like this.

You can customize the button width, color, and text. This will keep your readers on your page instead of clicking away!
