I Know That.
“I know that.”
“I know that, Mom.”
I couldn’t begin to tell you how many time a day I hear that phrase.
“Ethan, put your shoes on.”
“I know that.”
“Ethan, clean up your plate.”
“I know that, Mom.”
And it’s not just the phrase itself. It’s the tone. It’s the sigh of exasperation at the end.
And then the worst part happens.
My response.
“If you knew it, you’d do it.”
Apparently, I am a poet. I just didn’t know it.
Oh and ladies and gentlemen I have just turned into my father. My father always had a clever response to whatever I threw at him.
“Where’s it at?”
“Right before the at.”
“But I have to go to the mall tonight.”
“You don’t have to go anywhere.”
And so the cycle continues.
But I bet you knew that.
Oh Steph…I know that!!! I SO SO SO KNOW THAT!!! Derek knows it all!!!
Loved your post, loved it so much and identified myself with some of content, which I hear day in and out! 🙂
LOL, so funny! I don’t get “I know that’, but for a lightly verbal child, she’s sure mastered, “I’m kinda busy” whenever I ask her to do something.
I get “I’m not stupid!” when I tell my 8 year old to do something when he hasn’t done it when I asked him before! ugghhh
Oh boy!!!!
Ah parenthood… ain’t it grand!? 🙂
That’s great! C is doing this to me all the time. Arg
Oh but he’s SOOOOOOOOO cute. Look at that smile! {smirk?}
