Keep Kids’ Teeth Healthy During The Holidays
I taught my child the importance of oral health care with LISTERINE® Smart Rinse, as part of a sponsored post for Socialstars #LISTERINE
Halloween was just the kick-off to the sugary treats that will soon be all over the house! Cookies will be made. Candy will be brought in. There will be sugar everywhere! And it will be hard to keep it away from the kids. With all the candy consumed during holidays, it’s important to start and keep up with healthy habits with your children. Think of this as the time to beef up your oral care health routines. When you are running around Christmas shopping and to all the family get togethers, it’s easy for this to take a back seat. And if it does? No one is going to be happy!
Keep Kids’ Teeth Healthy During The Holidays
Brush after every sugary meal. This is a no brainer right? But something we often forget. The ADA recommends that everyone brush their teeth and gums at least twice a day for at least two minutes each time. There are times when don’t have a toothbrush handy. In those cases, use a rinse like Listerine® Smart Rinse Kids Activation. LISTERINE® Kids strengthens teeth 99% better than brushing alone and provides 12 Hour Cavity Protection. This is an important step in my house! My oldest has deep grooves and we have to make sure we get way in there to avoid cavities.
Limit their sugar intake. Easier said than done right? I know. We avoid sodas and hard candy as they can be the worst offenders when it comes to sticking to the teeth. The best part? My kids really don’t like soda so that makes it easier. We also limit how much and how often they are hitting the candy supply. Candy is a treat not an every day, all day thing.
Make brushing teeth fun. Brushing their teeth twice a day can feel like such a chore but it’s an important chore. This is why we make it fun! From fun toothbrushes that light up to our favorite characters, like the Avengers, on our Listerine® Smart Rinse Kids Activation, they are enjoying brushing their teeth!
Stuff the stocking with toothbrushes. I always put a fun, new toothbrush in the boys’ stockings for Christmas. This not only gives them a new toothbrush to try out but it stresses how important it is to brush and take care of our teeth!
