Now That’s True Love

I honestly can not believe I am sharing this story with you. But it’s too freaking funny!

The hours leading up to Ben’s birth were pretty boring. After all, I was tied down to a fetal monitor and blood pressure cuff. After they decided to keep me and do the c-section that day, I was also teethed to an IV.

You know what that means.

After they pumped a bag of fluid in me {in what seemed like only a half hour}, I had to pee. I had to pee bad. The hubster grabbed the nurse for me and I was not happy with what she told me. I had to use a bed pan.

A bed pan? How in the hell do you use a bed pan?

But I had to go so bad that it really didn’t matter.

The nurse got me all set up, closed the curtain, and the hubster waited in the hall to give me some privacy. I thought for sure it would only take a minute.

WRONGO!

I laid there for 20 minutes trying to go. Do you know how hard it is to use a bed pan while laying down? No? You should try it sometime.

The hubster {and the nurse} kept popping their heads in to check on me. Before they could even pull the curtain back, I would say, “No, not yet.”

Finally, I had the hubster come in. I told him it was useless. I was never going to be able to go. Then he started to make jokes. He’s a wise-ass who always has a wise-ass comment about everything.

And that’s all it took.

He had me laughing so hard I was finally able to go.

What a relief!

He tried to run out of the room once he figured out what was going on but I wouldn’t let him. I couldn’t risk not being able to go anymore! I needed him to keep making me laugh.

When all was said and done, I begged the nurse for a catheder. Yes, you read that right. I begged her for it. I wasn’t going to go through that again!

And that folks is true love. When your loved one can help you out in your time of need {in my case making me wet the bed!}, you know they truly love you!

I made sure I got the catheter early with the second baby. 🙂 Stopping by from PYHO.

  2. Oh, that's so funny! You figure our husbands see it all when we go through childbirth anyway!

  3. OMG, Steph… I couldn't use the bed pan either! They gave it to me when I was in labor wit Carter and Bob had to help me go. It was awful. Catheter = a much better option 😉

Mike is a keeper though! =)

  4. OMG hilarious story! I hated getting a catheter though… that was easily the WORST part of my labor and delivery. Dead serious.

  5. That was funny! I would think a bed pan lying down would not even be possible. Loved the part when you begged for the catheter…now that's desperate! Thanks for sharing your embarrassing moment with us.

  6. Too funny! With my first son I had to come home with a cathedar because I was so swollen down there. My nice hubby had to change my pee bag for a few days. It was strapped to my leg lol. Love him!
