What to Pack in Your Pool Bag for the Perfect Day Poolside

Want to know what to pack in your pool bag this summer? Here’s a list of pool bag essentials that will help you have the perfect day poolside.

We spend most of our summer days at the pool. We are lucky enough to have a pool in our community but we also joined the local YMCA this year. Which means we have three pools to choose from each day!

In the beginning of the summer, I pack a to-go pool bag. Kinda like that hospital bag you packed back when you were pregnant. A bag filled with all of our pool essentials so that we can head out to the pool at a moments notice.

It’s helped cut down on the frantic search for goggles, sunscreen, and pool tags. That means more time spent lounging and swimming at the pool!

Whether you’re planning a day at the local swimming pool or lounging by a private poolside oasis, having the right essentials in your pool bag can make all the difference in creating a perfect day of relaxation and fun. I

Pool Bag Essentials

Towels

Pack at least two towels—one for lounging and drying off, and another for covering your poolside chair or mat. Microfiber towels are lightweight and quick-drying, making them an excellent choice for the pool.

Sunscreen

Protecting your skin from the sun’s harmful rays is crucial. Select a broad-spectrum sunscreen with a high SPF and water-resistant properties. Don’t forget to reapply regularly, especially after swimming.

Hat and Sunglasses

Shield your face and eyes from the sun with a wide-brimmed hat and UV-protective sunglasses. Opt for a hat that provides ample shade and sunglasses that block both UVA and UVB rays.

Flip-Flops or Water Shoes

A pair of waterproof flip-flops or water shoes are essential for navigating around the pool area safely. They’ll protect your feet from hot surfaces and sharp objects.

Snacks

Pack some light and refreshing snacks to keep you energized and satisfied. Consider options like fruit slices, granola bars, or small packs of nuts. Avoid perishable foods that can spoil in the heat.

Water Bottle

Staying hydrated is key when spending time in the sun. Bring a reusable water bottle to refill throughout the day and quench your thirst.

Cooler Bag

If you plan to bring perishable snacks or beverages, invest in a small cooler bag with ice packs to keep them fresh and chilled.

Reading Material

A good book, magazine, or e-reader can be a perfect companion for a relaxing day by the pool. Choose something you enjoy and can easily dive into while soaking up the sun.

Waterproof Phone Pouch

Keep your phone protected from splashes and water damage with a waterproof phone pouch. This way, you can capture memories and stay connected without worry.

Pool Toys

If you’re going with friends or family, consider packing some pool toys or inflatables for added fun. Beach balls, water guns, or floaties can make your pool experience even more enjoyable.

Change of Clothes

After a refreshing swim, you may want to change into dry clothes before heading home. Pack a change of clothes, including underwear, to ensure you’re comfortable on your way back.

Portable Bluetooth Speaker

Enhance the ambiance with your favorite tunes by bringing a portable Bluetooth speaker. Make sure it’s waterproof or water-resistant to withstand splashes.

Dry Bag

If you have valuables like wallets, keys, or electronics that you don’t want to leave unattended, bring a waterproof dry bag to keep them safe and dry while you’re in the water.

First Aid Kit

Accidents can happen, so it’s wise to have a basic first aid kit on hand. Include essentials such as band-aids, antiseptic wipes, pain relievers, and any necessary medications.

Emergency Contact Information

It’s always a good idea to have a note or saved contact with emergency numbers in case of any unforeseen incidents.

Packing the right items in your pool bag ensures that you have everything you need for a perfect day poolside. From swimwear and sunscreen to snacks and entertainment, being prepared allows you to relax, stay safe, and fully enjoy your time in and around the water.

Gather your essentials, double-check your list, and get ready for a fantastic day of poolside bliss!
