Is there anything more traditional than Pumpkin Pie at Thanksgiving? I mean Thanksgiving just begs to have pumpkin pie for dessert. I can’t think of any other time of year where it is acceptable to pull out a pumpkin pie for dessert (ok, maybe Christmas, but I’ll give that holiday a pass on this one).
Everyone at your Thanksgiving table is going to expect a pumpkin pie for dessert. While they may love pumpkin pie, why not wow them with something unexpected?
Why not transform that pumpkin pie into something a little different?
That’s what I plan on doing this Thanksgiving with Pumpkin Pie parfaits.
Now don’t think you are going to have to slave all day making these. No way man! Not my way.
Pumpkin Pie Parfaits
Step #1: Pick up a Mrs. Smith’s Pumpkin pie the next time you are doing your Christmas shopping at WalMart. Shhh…it will be our little secret. And while you’re at it, make sure print out this coupon to save $1.00 off your Mrs. Smith’s Pie with the purchase of Cool Whip!
Step #2: Don’t forget the Cool Whip! You can’t have pumpkin pie without the Cool Whip! Coincidence that they are right next to each other in the freezer case? I don’t think so!
Now that you have your “ingredients”, you are ready to begin!
Step #3: Follow the directions on the box to bake you pie. When it’s done, make sure you let it cool before moving on to step 4.
Step #4: Take a big scoop of pumpkin pie and plop it into a Mason Jar.
Step #5: Add a scoop of Cool Whip on top of the pumpkin pie.
Step #6: Repeat steps 4 and 5 until your mason jar is full!
When you are done, seal up your jars and place them in the refrigerator until you are ready to serve. I recommend making this the morning of your dinner so the Cool Whip doesn’t get too soft.
