I have been dreading this day for a long time now. I have been promising Mike for a while now that I would go through my mountain of shoes and get rid of the ones I don’t wear. I really didn’t want to do this so I have been putting it off. I admit it. I am pack rat. I hold on to things for longer than I should. It’s weird. I have some sort of emotional ties to this crap. But that’s another issue for another time.
Mike was kind enough to do the sorting for me. At first, he thought it was a lost cause because I kept saying “keep” to almost every pair in the beginning. But I reassured him that once he got deeper into the abyss that was my closet, we would start tossing. And of course, I was right. After we were done, I got rid of 32 pairs of shoes. No, that is not a typo 32! And I probably kept about 20 pairs. I can’t believe that I had over 50 pairs of shoes in my closet. Amazing!
Of course, he couldn’t let me just stop at the shoes. Next, we moved onto purses. I parted with about 12 purses, including my beloved red suede Coach. I was torn on whether to toss it or not but I hardly use it anymore and it’s pretty beat. But it is so pretty!
I hate to admit it but I do feel better after the purge. My closet is clean and organized. We were going to work on the guest room (i.e. dumping ground for items with no home) but we ran out of time and my feet were so swollen. I wouldn’t exactly say I over did it but came pretty close to it.
Guess I know what I’ll be doing tomorrow!
