As I skim my Facebook feed in the morning, I see updates from friends who are really making a difference in the world. Sure, I am raising two wonderful boys who may grow up to do something fantastic. But these friends? They are doing it now. They are doing things that I could never imagine in a million years doing.

Like the high school friend who is the lead point man in setting up clinics in Africa for the Ebola outbreak. The friend who is risking is own health to help the health of others.

Or the blogging friend who goes on countless missions to help under privileged communities build homes and schools.

And then there’s me. Little me sitting in my perfect bubble wondering what on earth could I do to make a difference. To help them.

I know I am not alone.

There are so many little things that we can do every single day that can help make an impact. Even when we don’t realize we are doing it. Like purchasing Truvia.

I didn’t either but once I found out that they did, I had to learn more. I had the opportunity to listen to Matt Jacobs, the Product Line Manager for Truvia® Consumer Products, talk about the three key foundations of the Truvia brand: sourcing responsibly, stewarding natural resources, and sharing in improving communities.

The Truvia® business launched its “Sharing a Sweet Future” on World Food Day in October 2012 to help reduce childhood hunger in Bolivia and improve communities through better nutrition, safety and education.  Over a three-year period, nearly $1 million in contributions from the Truvia® business will have been used to help develop sustainable communities in Bolivia, a region of critical need with one of the highest rates of nutritional deficiencies in South America.

Nearly 40 percent of the Bolivian population unable to afford adequate food for a healthy life.  65 percent of all rural households in Bolivia are unable to afford the minimum recommended caloric intake.  Truvia recently announced the results from the first two years of its three-year partnership with the United Nations World Food Programme. One major highlight? The program has helped to feed 49,075 Bolivian school children.  That is simply amazing!
