She’s Thrifty.

Yesterday, I went to my first thrift store. When we first walked in, I was majorly overwhelmed. I didn’t know where to begin. There was just too much stuff, in no particular order other than color.

My om started digging through and I just couldn’t handle it all, so I wandered around. I looked through the books, the toys, and deemed the place a bust. My mom wasn’t quite ready to give up so easily and was busy throwing things in her cart. I figured if she was finding stuff, there had to be stuff there for me.

I headed to the jeans and dug in. I threw every pair in my size in my cart. I found about 4. Then I went to find my mom. She was in the sweater aisle. I told her that I would take one side while she was going through the other and help her find stuff. I was finding a lot of sweaters for her and then bam! found the perfect one for me. In the cart it went. After finding the first one, I starting finding a ton of stuff.

After finishing up the aisle, we decided to try our stuff on. Out of the four pair of jeans, one pair fit me perfectly. They were in great condition but way too long. My mom reminded me that for $5 I could have them tailored and it would still be cheaper than buying brand new. Good point, mom! Out of 6 sweater, I found 3 that I really liked.

Since I had some luck in my department, I decided to go looking for E. I mean, why buy him brand new stuff when he is going to outgrow it tomorrow. I found a ton for him! A couple sweaters, t-shirts for daycare and one track suit.

When I looked in my cart, I thought I was going to end up spending way more than I planned but what the heck, let’s go for it.

Here is everything that I bought.

The cashier took all my clothes and rang them up. Grand total: $36.90! Excuse me, did you say $36?!

I couldn’t believe it! We will definitely be going back soon!

  1. Hey that is alright!!! I have to admit, I am impressed. I give up in thrift stores, I get too overwhelmed and just want to run. 🙂

    Good job!

  2. I know the feeling of being overwhelmed. I don't go into thrift stores for that same reason..getting overwhelmed and right now I don't have anyone to go with me…but I do agree you can get some good finds if you have the time.

    Dropping by from Sits!!
