Skinny Peppermint Mocha

‘Tis the season of holiday shopping, holiday cookies, and holiday drinks! While I’m out running errands and doing last minute holiday shopping, I hit the drive thru and grab myself a sweet drink to get me through the tasks at hand. And my wallet is paying dearly for it. Sure, it’s easy to run through the drive thru but with a little planning I can make the same drinks at home before I head out the door.

A favorite holiday classic? A skinny peppermint mocha. Does it get any more Christmas than that? From the mocha to the mint, this drink will put anyone in the holiday spirit.

Skinny Peppermint Mocha

To recreate this holiday drink at home, you will need:

  • 2/3 cup Strong coffee 
  • 2/3 cup low fat milk of choice
  • 1 tbs Unsweetened cocoa powder (to taste)
  • 2-4 pkt sweetener of choice to taste
  • 1-2 drops Peppermint extract

Start by brewing your coffee. You will want a strong coffee, like an Espresso roast for a latte taste. Next layer your drink as follows: cocoa powder and sweetener on bottom. Pour hot coffee on top and stir. Next, add in peppermint extract and milk.

Top with whipped cream and crushed candy canes if you wish.
