S’Mores Dip: Campfire Not Required
You don’t need a campfire to enjoy S’Mores! Make this S’Mores dip indoors and enjoy all year long!
One of my all-time favorite summer treats has got to be S’mores. There’s just a nostalgic feeling when you’re sitting around the campfire, crafting your perfect S’more with the just right burnt marshmallow, and making a mess while trying to eat one gracefully. A lot of memories have been made over those nights eating S’mores with friends and family. It’s a tradition that we have carried on with our children.
But what about those nights when the weather isn’t just right, whether it’s raining or just too darn hot. Or maybe you just don’t feel going through all the work of building a campfire. You shouldn’t be denied of S’mores just because of a little rain, right?
Repeat after me: You don’t always need a campfire to make S’mores!
Not any more at least. There are a ton of ways to get your S’mores on when you are stuck inside on a rainy night. Whatever route you take, it will lead you to the same end result: melted chocolate, gooey marshmallows, and good ‘ole graham crackers.
How to Make S’Mores Dip
You’ll need your basic S’mores ingredients: Hershey’s Milk Chocolate bars, Graham Cracker Squares, and Marshmallows. That’s it!
Oh and you’ll need a cast iron skillet. You don’t need a large one. A small one will do unless you have a lot of people over!
Just a little warning: Do not try and handle the cast iron skillet without a pot holder. Just don’t. You’re welcome.
Now that you have all your ingredients, it’s time to assemble. Break up your Hershey’s Milk Chocolate bars and create an even layer on the bottom of the skillet. Here is where you can get a little creative. If you want to take your S’mores Dip to the next level, you could add peanut butter chips, caramel chips, crushed cookies, anything! The sky is really the limit. I already have some plans on how I can spice this dip up the next time.
Next, you want to cut your marshmallows in half using a pair of kitchen shears. This will help get your marshmallows nice and melty (yes, I just made up that word).
You are now ready to pop this baby in the oven! Bake in a pre-heated 450 degrees F oven for about 6-8 minutes or until marshmallows are lightly browned. Keep an eye on the dip once the marshmallows start to brown. You will go from golden to burnt in a matter of minutes! Remove from the oven (with your pot holder!) and let stand for about 5 minutes.
I dare you to try and wait the 5 minutes. You’ll want to dive right in with the graham crackers! Make sure you have them hand for almost immediate dipping.
