Last weekend, we had a differnt kind of family night. Instead of our usually pizza and a movie, we had a viewing party for the Kids’ Choice Awards. I wasn’t sure if the boys would have fun watching. I didn’t know if it would hold their attention or not. To help, we planned a viewing party with a Spongebob theme over the past few weeks.
They had a lot of input for the party and helped me prep throughout the day. As it got closer to show time, they were really excited! We even made sure we voted for our favorites online and they couldn’t wait to see who the big winners were.
We had everything ready to go: Plankton Jello (green apple jello), Peanut Butter & Jellyfish Sandwiches (PB&J cut into stars), Kelp Juice (Capri Sun Roarin’ Waters), and our favorite, Krabby Patties!
Krabby Patties, aka Hamburger Cookies, are a summertime party staple in our house. They are easy to make and they make a lot. They are the perfect snack to bring to a picnic or party when you don’t have a lot of time.
Spongebob’s Krabby Patties
You will need:
- Vanilla Wafer Cookies
- Mint Chocolate Cookies
- Yellow and Red Icing
Start with a row of vanilla wafers as your bottom buns and top with yellow icing.
Top with the chocolate mint cookies.
Pipe red icing on top of the chocolate mint cookies.
Top with another vanilla wafer for your bun.
Now you need a sesame seeds! Top your buns with some sugar water…
..and place white sprinkles on top!
Now you have your very own Krabby Patties!
Wanna see that again?
Now that our snacks were ready, we got ready for the big show. I printed up some cards so the boys could keep track of who won! A few of our favorites won, like Minecraft and Spongebob. And even though we were a little disappointed that our favorite movie, The Lego Movie, didn’t, there was no time to dwell on our losses. We had a party going on!
We created a Jellyfish Forrest out of balloons and crepe paper to hang over our food table but that didn’t last long. They wanted to have a little fun by dancing around with them during the musical performances of the night.
I believe we may have a new family tradition! We all had a lot of fun watching the Kids’ Choice Awards and spending time as a family. I wonder what theme they will pick next year!
