Our Summer Schedule
This week marks the end of Pre-K which means we have the whole summer together! No running around in the mornings to get to school {yay!}. I have been trying to think of ways to make the most out of our summer. Part of me is dreading all of the down time {will they be bored? will we be stuck in the house every day?}. Last summer, I came up with a simple summer schedule that was based on different activities every day. But I knew I was going to need something a little more. I am working more from home but I also want to make sure that we are enjoying the summer!
I searched around Pinterest for some summer schedules and came across the most detailed schedules and the simplest. Somewhere in between, I came up with our own summer schedule. Now before you go thinking that I will be sticking to this strictly, you are delusional. I would be delusional to think that this would work every day of the summer. But, it is a nice, loose framework to make the most out of our summer.
I have also been scouring the internet for free activities for the kids and I have a great list going so far. From story times to crafts to fun days at the farm, there are a ton of local activities. One that I am most looking forward to is the AC Moore Summer Crafts Program. Held every Wednesday between June 26 and August 14, the program offers free craft activities from 1 p.m. through 3 p.m. for children ages 4 – 12 years. This year, the program kicks off with a summer fun tote bag project benefiting Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation for Childhood Cancer.
Summer Fun Wednesdays begin June 26 and continue through August 14. Scheduled activities include:
- June 26, Simply Spray® Canvas Bag project
- July 3, Orb Factory Sticky Mosaics® Bling Stickers
- July 10, Crayola® Model Magic Owls
- July 17, Schur-Tech Duck Tape Duckling™ Frames
- July 24, Karmin International™ Design a Puzzle
- July 31, Melissa & Doug Scratch Art® Tube
- August 7, Fashion Angels® Tapeffiti™
- August 14, Polyform® Eraser Clay Sweet Treats
What does your summer schedule look like?
I’m linking up to Motivation Monday with A Life in Balance, Confessions of a Stay-At-Home, and The Vintage Mom!
Great schedule! So hard to keep them busy and get your own work done too. I’m having a hard time figuring out our rhythm for the boys as well as the baby with her naps. Maybe something more flexible like this will help. Thanks!
Ok, I am FLOORED – you get up at 6AM in the summer??? Whoa, I was angling to sleep in til 9, LOL. Summer schedules used to help when they were little, but pray for moderate amounts of sunshine to get them out & about. I’m hoping to buy a mini pool, that’ll keep them truly occupied!
I wish I could sleep til 9 but my kids are early birds!
Great projects for the summer!!
Sounds like a busy but fun summer planned for you! My neighbor just put together a schedule like this for her kiddos. She made a visual aid type schedule and put it on the wall in her house so that her older daughter could follow along when bored.
Looks like a great schedule. I think schedules are so important for kiddos and parents! Happy Summer!!
Love your schedule– it’s a great idea so the kids know what’s coming next and there’s little time to be ‘bored’. I’m making a schedule for our wall since every day will be different this summer and I want the kids to concretely understand ‘what comes next!’
What a coincidence, I am working on summer schedules for my kids also.
LOL – we’re early birds, too!
I have to remember to get AC Moore’s crafts on our calendar. I also want to look at the schedule for the $1 movies. There’s a place in Newtown Square.
I wish I was so organized!
