Teaching Kids to Give Back this Season

Thanks to GoodWorld and The Motherhood for sponsoring this post on giving back!

One of the most important things to keep in mind during this season is giving back. We are so fortunate to be able to give our kids everything and more. Unfortunately, not everyone can say the same. It’s easy for our kids to go overboard and want every toy and game they see. But to me, it’s important that they learn that it’s better to give than to receive.

How we give back?

Each year, we donate tons of new toys to our local community and we make sure the boys are involved. They help gather the toys and are with us when we deliver them.

This year, we held a community food drive. We set up a drop off container at our house and the boys collected the food each day. They helped me pack up the food and dropped it off at our local food bank.

Finally, the boys were sent on a mission today from their Elf on the Shelf. He left them a large box and told them they had to fill it with toys they no longer wanted. When the box is full, we will donate them!
