These are the Days.

There are times in our lives when we stop and re-evaluate our current situations. I guess some would say that these would be life defining moments. Moments that make us stop, take a deep breathe, and change our course of direction.

Like many others, my life defining moments happened when my children were born. Not simply because we brought a life into the world, but, also, because of the events that made up their arrivals.

By now you know you know the traumatic birth story of E {if you don’t, you can read it here}. After I got through the trauma of what could have  happened, I started to reflect on what did happen. We had a healthy baby and there was nothing else in the world that mattered.

I {we} still carried that mindset but, naturally, the volume of it’s impact decreased over time.

Then came Benny.

Not to be out done by his big brother, he, too, gave us a run for our money on his birth day. Except this time, I wasn’t the one sick. He was.

Talk about a life defining moment.

Talk about your whole focus in life turning on a dime.

After we faced the could haves with Benny and he proved that he was stronger than they thought, I {we} began to look at things differently. All the petty little problems from before just didn’t seem worth the time or energy any more. We had two precious little boys and nothing else really seemed to matter.

Those life defining moments have gotten us where we are today. It is why I didn’t go back to work and I stay home with the kids. These days with the kids are precious and are quickly slipping away. In the blink of an eye, they will be grown and off on their own.

And what we will have left are the memories of these days.

Because these are the days.
