5 Things to Do in Hershey
THIS POST IS SPONSORED BY HERSHEYPARK. ALL OPINIONS ARE MY OWN.
If you think all there is to do in Hershey is Hersheypark you would be so wrong! But I was once just like you thinking the only thing to do was ride the Super Dooper Looper and taking a ride through Chocolate World.
But there is so much more to do in Hershey!
If you are planning a long weekend or even a week-long getaway to Hershey, make sure you add these to your to-do list.
5 Things to Do in Hershey
1. Zoo America. Zoo America is my favorite hidden gem at Hersheypark. My youngest is not into rides at all. While my husband and oldest hit all of the roller coasters, we take a walk over to the Zoo.
Don’t have time during the day to visit the Zoo? That’s ok! You can visit after dark for behind the scenes tour. Join ZooAmerica naturalists for a personal tour through the Zoo, including an insider’s look at the Animal Health Center and a flashlight tour through the animal buildings. Feed the otters, touch a reptile, or hold a bird of prey. During our tour we feed the bears!
ZooAmerica tickets are available upon arrival or online. Guests visiting Hersheypark may visit the Zoo free-of-charge on the date of their Park visit.
2. Hershey Bears Hockey. The Hershey Bears are an American professional ice hockey team based in Hershey. Take your kids for a game and watch the Bears as they defend the den. This is a great way to introduce your kids to hockey!
Join Coco, The Official Mascot of the Hershey Bears as he Defends The Den at every home game! Coco enjoys hanging out with fans during the game and rallying the crowd at intermission.
3. Hershey Gardens & Conservatory. Hershey Gardens opened in 1937 with Milton Hershey’s request to “create a nice garden of roses.” More than 75 years later, the small rose garden has blossomed into 23 acres of botanical beauty providing visitors with unique experiences and enriching opportunities.
New for 2016 is the year ‘round Butterfly Atrium offers a truly spectacular experience. Walk among 500 – 600 butterflies from around the world in a tropical setting that features colorful plants and a soothing water feature. Only one of 25 indoor, tropical butterfly atriums in the country, Hershey Gardens’ Butterfly Atrium is home to dozens of rare butterflies from South and Central America, Africa and Asia.
4. The Hershey Story. The Hershey Story museum experience takes visitors on a journey through his life, his chocolate company, his generous philanthropic legacy and the town of Hershey, PA. Engaging museum exhibits explore Mr. Hershey’s early failures, how he successfully revolutionized the process of making milk chocolate, and how the orphan boys of the Hershey Industrial School became heirs to his fortune.
The family attraction is also an interactive experience perfect for kids. The Apprentice Program and “I Spy” activity are special ways the museum presents the Hershey Story to younger visitors, allowing them to guide themselves along a “scavenger hunt-style” exploration of the museum exhibits.
5. Hershey Trolley Works. All aboard! This memorable excursion delivers good old-fashioned fun as singing trolley conductors entertain you on a ride through Chocolate Town, USA.
Hershey Trolley Works is quite possibly the best sightseeing tour you’ll ever experience. All of the trolleys cover the inspiring story of Milton Hershey and the main sites of the town of Hershey (the original chocolate factory, Mr. Hershey’s birthplace, his home Highpoint Mansion, Chocolate Avenue, the Hershey Kiss Streetlights, HersheyPark, and Milton Hershey School).
