Help Your Child’s School Get an A+

This past Monday, my Home and School duties returned and it reminded me that school really is on it’s way. I joined our Home and School Association when Ethan was in Kindergarten. I started simply by going to meetings to find out what was going on in the schools. I slowly started volunteering to help (your look at the Bake Sale Coordinator) and, since I do a really great job fundraising, I have been given more jobs over the years.

The one thing that you really see during these meetings is just how much these outside agencies and fundraisers are really helping the schools. Let’s face it, we all know school budgets aren’t what they used to be. Classes are being cut. Extras are non-existent.

All you have to do is walk up to the front of our school and you will see the flower beds overrun with weeds. Why? Because they didn’t have summer staff to keep up with the maintenance.

And that’s really sad.

We love our school and I love being a part of it but when you look at the politics involved, it really gets disheartening. But I don’t let that stop me from helping out.

Like I said, I am good at fundraising so I am always looking for ways that we can raise money for the school and help supplement in areas.

When I was introduced to Tyson Project A+™ program, I knew it would be a great a fit for our school. It’s an elementary school. Filled with school aged kids. Who most, if not all, love chicken nuggets. I know we always have a bag in our freezer.

I quickly emailed our Home and School president to give her all the information about the program and that is another hat I will wear this year. Now to get the word out.

It’s really easy. Once parents realized that a bag of Tyson chicken nuggets in their freezer has the potential to earn the school money, the Project A+ labels will be rolling in.

But it doesn’t stop there! Anyone can go to the Tyson Project A+™ website and nominate their school to earn extra money! The school with the most nominations will receive a packet of labels worth $1,000 to help their school get a head start on collecting Tyson Project A+™ labels.

Have you nominated your school yet? What are you waiting for?
